I would like to encourage your presence and participation in all phases of your child’s development while at the Mount Zion After School Program.
We have a very capable and dedicated staff with many talents as well as professional credentials. We invite you to interact and get to know your child’s instructor as well as the rest of the staff. Our staff functions as a team to provide a loving and caring environment that cultivates each child’s individual learning style.
Excellence for God is not an option - these words define our commitment to involve the community in fulfilling our mission to provide a quality education for all children. The Mount Zion After School Program emphasizes spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and social development.
Health and Safety
Mount Zion After School Program personnel can administer only those medications prescribed by a doctor upon the written request of the parent/guardian. The physician must sign the authorization form for the medication for students. Medication must be in the original labeled container from a pharmacy or health care provider. Appropriate forms can be obtained in the school office. The form and the medications should be given to the school personnel. The students will come to the office at the prescribed time and the staff member will dispense the medication. No medication is to be kept by a student while at school. Report all contagious diseases immediately to the school. Students with contagious diseases and or a temperature above normal are not allowed to remain in school.
Mission
The Mission of Solomon’s World After School Program at Mount Zion is to provide a balanced program based on the Word of God, His standards and ideals. Emphasis is placed on the pursuit of excellence in spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and social development.

What is the application process?
The process is easy as 1-2-3.
1. Complete Enrollment application.
2. Provide immunization record.
3. Pay $25.00 registration fee.

What is the payment policy?
Registration is $25.00. A weekly tuition of $55.00 is due every Friday before the upcoming week. The late payment fee is $10.00. DSS vouchers are accepted.
Are meals included in the price?
Yes. Each student receives a snack with 2 out of 3 components including fruit, milk, vegetable, grain and protein as set by the nutritional guidelines set by the state.
What is the mentor / child ratio?
The mentor/child ratio is 1:10.
What is the grade level range?
The grade level range is kindergarten to eighth grade.
What does a normal day’s schedule entail?
Daily activities include devotionals, academics, character education, career exploration, citizenship, technology training, arts & crafts and heritage.
What types of field trips are offered?
Students participate in off-site activities such as bowling, skating and going to the movies.
Is there any special programming?
Yes, there are special annual events included in the schedule such as:
- Book fair
- Winter Program
- Christmas Program
- Black History Program
- Monthly Birthday Celebrations
- Quarterly Honor Recognition
- End of Year Awards Program
Are there any holiday closings?
Yes. Dates vary each school year. However, a list of holiday closings is printed in the annual After School Program handbook. These handbooks are available at the beginning of the school year. Download the 2007-2008 Calendar here.
Employment
We are always looking for qualified individuals who have a desire to impact the lives of young children. Each employee must agree to a criminal background check, submit a fingerprint card and a complete medical report. In addition, he or she must supply proof of having a tuberculosis shot before becoming an employee.
