Prison Ministry

"I was naked and you clothed ME; I was sick and you visited ME: I was in prison. Did you visit ME?" - Matt. 25:36c

"Locked Up: BUT NOT, from God's Kingdom"

The primary purpose of the Prison Ministry Team is to evangelize, encourage, and equip those in prison and their families, so that they are empowered to successfully transition back into society upon release from prison.

How can we STOP the trend depicted in the chart below?

  • Effective Prison Ministry
  • Ministering to the whole man (body, soul and spirit)
  • Aftercare - Housing
  • Jobs - Find Corporations that will hire ex-offenders
  • Education
  • Mentor the inmates and their families

What Can I Do?

Mount Zion Prison Ministry is looking for committed volunteers to minister hope to the incarcerated. As a result, they will be able to minister hope to their children and grandchildren and change the future of their families.

Chatham Juvenile Development Center – Siler City, NC

Mentoring/Discipleship involve matching Christian women from Mt. Zion with a young woman at a secure (locked) juvenile facility. All women who participate must go through training and be cleared by both the church and the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Volunteers spend 6-7 sessions with a young woman aged 12-17 and talk about the basics of being a Christian. Mentoring occurs in the Fall, Winter, and Spring and recruitment occurs in August/September, January and March. Since many of the young women have experienced loss/abandonment in their past, a volunteer must be wholly dedicated to volunteer for the season in which she signs up. Volunteers have been amazed and surprised about how much they receive and learn by mentoring these young women. If you are interested in mentoring a young woman in a secure facility, please contact Sonja Frison at sfrison@msn.com or call 336-633-9255.

LOOK AT ME I'M FREE

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." - Gal. 5:1

Look at me I am free,

God has done a great work in me.

Look at me the chains are broken,

God has freed me from every yoke.

Look at me the way is clear,

God has removed the scars and smears.

I am free from bondage won’t you agree,

Jesus’ blood has set me free.

I will listen to what God has to say,

God has spoken and Jesus is the only way.

The teachings of man are not always right,

I will listen for God’s voice with delight.

God will show me the way to Him,

I am free from bondage and every whim.

Look at Me I’m free!
